early spring maccheroni alla chitarra

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

It is the first day of primavera! Spring is really here :) I am super happy :) I made this when I needed a break from the project and cooking always calm my mind, it is very therapeutic for me and now that spring is coming, there are lots of change from winter vegetables. Gerardo gave me very nice fresh peas and runner beans and I had just got a bag of very nice organic brazilian nuts and a pot of fresh ricotta, and I also have some left over of potato puree I made last night, so I just want to make something fast+green+creamy+fulfilling. I actually was improvising with all ingredients I had in my fridge, and I am happy the result was great that I can share it here :)

quinoa with spinach and spicy miso dressing

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

It has been a busy week for me (and it will be till end of next week as I am involved in an industrial design project) and when I work, I mostly put 110% of myself into it, so I do not realise that I am tired, but sometimes my body just screams: empower me! :) After I ate this, I usually feel much better, so even I don’t have much time now, I really want to share this recipe. sunday morning banana+honey pancake :)

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

This morning: messy+colourful table+lots of sun :) Been trying to make pancake with rice flour as my Indonesian soul been craving for kue serabi (Indonesian pancake made with rice flour and coconut milk). I was trying to make it yesterday but the result was too dry, but this morning I saw that we had some banana at home and I thought it might be a perfect ingredient to add moistness to the pancake. I tried it and the result was beautiful :)

curious about borraggine :)

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I was in centro botanico, a nice organic grocer in Milan when I saw these bunches of borraggine (borage), I was very curios, I ate them before inside ravioli (super good) but never seen them fresh. Then Santina, who worked there, kindly gave me an explanation about it and patiently answered all my questions (I am a curious person and it gets worst when I see something ‘tickling’ me like these borraggine :)

sunday story: e vs lampascioni 7 days ‘war’ :)

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

I have been relaxing a lot today, and now, sitting in front of my old mac, with a cup of hot nepal antu valley tea, I want to share a little story about my ‘war’ with lampascioni a.k.a muscari racemosum, some sort of wild onion from Puglia. Now when I think of that week, I can really laugh at myself, but I really was almost frustrated :)
