bday.boy.lunch:beautiful.wine+beautiful.cheese
I am writing this in a super relaxed mood after a super relaxing late lunch, smiling as I think that when I woke up this morning I did not even imagine that I would end up with this beautiful bottle of wine that led to buying beautiful cheese to accompany it that led to a beautiful lunch. I woke up at 07.30 this morning, sleepily riding my bike to take some fresh bread from panetteria pagani and apple brioche from pasticceria cimino for our breakfast. Then having a quick breakfast and prepare one for Marco (guilty act as I had to go early in his birthday morning with my friend A to buy some fruits and vegs). Then I left to accompany my friend A to the orto mercato. We went to there to get some fresh vegetables and fruits for his wedding next Monday. Orto mercato is a place where all the green grocer in Milano go to buy their stuff. It is only open for public in Saturday morning, and this is my first time there. It was crazy, full of people carrying crates of fruits and vegs. Me and A were dragging an old trolley in the middle of all these chaos! I took few photos before finally gave up (too many people!) and just helping A carrying some crates.
Then L, A’s fiance joined us, and we went to the flower section to get some fresh flowers. I bought these sunflowers for Marco (our favourite flower)
Then A gave me this beautiful bottle of wine that he and his friend made. It is kind of sweet wine but he said I should not eat it with dessert, I should eat it with aged cheese, such as montasio stagionato. The name of the wine is Un Verduz dal sis from 100% Verduzzo grapes. The grapes were gathered over-ripe and withered in small boxes for three months, then fermented and aged then bottled without clarification and filtration. Beautiful.
