singapore: day 02: little india+chinatown

Second day in Singapore, we woke up early, having breakfast with fruits and toast with kaya, then walking straight to Little India, and we were blown away by the colours! Beautiful! I never thought Singapore could be this colourful. Be sure to visit this area whenever you visit :) I am still not used to the light in Asia, completely different with in Europe, everything looks sharper!

And there are lots of colourful veggies too! I was super happy :) This is banana flower, people at home in Indonesia usually cook this in curry sauce. Yum!

Love the colourful architecture too!

We went to Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple before taking the MRT to chinatown.

First thing in Chinatown: dim sum! Straight to Da Dong at the Smith Street. Everything of the dim sum is delicious but the must try is the steamed prawn dumpling with fish roe (pic below)…yumyum!

We were SO full! And it was kind of hard to get up from our chairs :) We then walked around and found this Budha Tooth Relic Temple and decided to go inside. There were many people chanting and we went around and quite surprised to find a garden on the roof the the temple.

And I couldn’t help noticing such a funny object: a real stone speakers :) placed around the garden so people still can hear the chants. I was like kept wondering where the sounds came from until I found this :)

It was starting to rain, we took the MRT to Bugis, the walked to 8Q SAM contemporary art space to see exhibition of some Singaporean young artists. Then walking back to the b&b to rest, we had to wake up early the day after, for our early flight to Angkor Wat! Will surely post the Cambodia experience, it was amazing, with crazy food and divine nature and of course the amazing temples of Angkor. Ciao! ;)
