rice pudding with fresh strawberry

It has been more than a month since I wrote the last post…too long! I have been busy with projects, loads of meetings and cross continent travel…uffff….I am back home in Indonesia now, last week was nightmare, jet lag plus bad cold, I guess I am not made for this hectic life.

If you noticed, this photo is too ‘rigid’ than my usual moody ones :) because I used my photography set to shoot this, couldn’t be bothered to style this as I was tired after working all day (even today is sunday!) and I still am. But I promised to post the recipe to Mrs. Eka, she was my English teacher back in high school and she asked me for the rice pudding recipe and I said I would. A promise is a promise :)

Anyway, I found this woman who sells strawberry from her own garden in Malang, a city near my village, you can order by phone in the morning and usually she will deliver it to your home in the afternoon, I had to ask a favour from Mrs. Yuliati, my landlady-turn-friend to get some. I ordered two kilos, most of them turned into strawberry jam for my friend Deb and I kept some for this rice pudding, but you can top it with any fruits in season, as now is mango season in Indonesia, I had this with slices of fresh mango and drizzles of honey and it was yum!

As we had lots of leftover cooked rice, I recycled it to this rice pudding (there are zillion ways to recycled leftover cooked rice, will write about this later)

And just a little life update:

…I spilled the thai-inspired dressing during the photo session :P

and wanted to make muffin for breakfast but was too busy so I turned it into muffing LOAF and use it to test the lighting :)

…and I am sooooooo tired now, so I will just give you the recipe :)))

Rice Pudding with Fresh Strawberry

100 gram cooked rice

500 ml fresh milk

5 cardamon pods

1 cinnamon stick

35 gram sugar

Fresh seasonal fruits

Honey

Boil with low heat the rice, fresh milk, cracked cardamon pods, cinnamon stick and sugar for about 20 minutes, or until the milk reduced to half and thickens.

Let cool and keep in the fridge.

Serve with slices of favourite seasonal fruits and drizzle with honey!

(I like to have this in the middle of the night, when hunger pang attacks, or reheated for a rainy morning breakfast…heavenly! :)
