matcha and oatmeal cookies

These cookies reminds me of that Spike Jonze movie: Where The Wild Things Are :)
Why? No idea, I haven’t even finished watching it :P
May be because I am still amused by these too-cute-to-be-true Japanese cookies cutters, in Indonesia we usually find those moon, heart, star shapes, not these ones:

I think it is the detail that makes me hooked, I mean…look at the elephant, it is completed with the ear and eye stamp :) I just could not stop smiling :))))) Even Charlie was sooooo curious about them.

I should really stop writing about these cookies cutters, and writing more about the cookies, but really, these cookies need no explanation, they are easy to make, so yum, and I think you really should make them. So good! I can’t stop eating them. Want a proof? It is like…1 a.m. and I am munching them while writing this. So, take the butter out of the fridge and preheat your oven now, and let’s make some cute cookies :)

Matcha and Oatmeal Cookies
The measurement is a little…messy, I only had measuring cups and spoons in my kitchen right now, no scale yet, and I was listening to Amon Tobin…will post recipe with more precise measurement. Promise :) And I don’t like too sweet cookies either, so if you want sweeter cookies, add a tablespoon more sugar.
80 gram butter, softened
4 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 organic egg
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 cup flour plus abit more
1 tablespoon matcha powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of sea salt
Preheat the oven to 190 C
Mix the softened butter with sugar, a pinch of sea salt and the matcha powder until well combined, add the egg, mix well then add the oatmeal, flour and baking powder all together until you reach a consistency of a pliable dough (see the pic above). Add more flour if you feel the dough is too soft.
Sprinkle some flour on a working surface, roll the dough to 3mm thick, and cut with the cutest cookie cutter you have, transfer to buttered baking sheets and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edge is golden-ish brown-ish.
Enjoy!
Warning: They are almost dangerously addictive :))))
